Pre-treatment of Materials

Blasting

Blasting, often called sandblasting, is the most efficient method of surface preparation before paint application or hot spray coating. Sandblasting reliably removes old paint, rust and other debris, thus assuring optimum adhesion and longevity of the applied new surface finish.

Phosphate Bath

Phosphating is a chemical treatment of steel increasing its corrosion resistance and improving adhesion of subsequently applied paint. In addition, the phosphate layer effectively binds organic substances such as plastic lubricants or water-soluble oils, which significantly enhances its corrosion protection. The process involves degreasing at 30-60 °C.

Thermosetting Powder Coat (Comaxite)

Thermosets (called comaxite) are solid resins, cross-linking at high temperatures, unlike thermoplastics. The cured thermoset coat is thermally stable, which means that it cannot be melted by subsequent heating.

Thermoplastic Powder Coating

Thermoplastic coating of metals is based on modified polyolefins and polyamides and may be applied on soft steel, aluminium and galvanised steel. The coat is applied electrostatically.

Corrosive Aggressiveness of Environment

One of the most important considerations for paint system selection is represented by specification of the effects to which the structure, equipment or building is to be exposed. Assessment of the corrosive aggressiveness impact of the external environment requires consideration of the following factors:

Temperature and humidity (operation temperature and temperature gradients),
UV radiation effect,
Effect of chemicals (e.g. specific industrial plant environments),
Mechanical damage (impact, abrasion etc.).

Corrosive aggressiveness of external environment will affect

Type of protective coat,
Total thickness of the paint system,
Required surface preparation,
Minimum and maximum intervals between applications of individual paint layers.

Corossion category	Exterior	Interior
C1 Very low		Heated buildings with clean atmospheres, e.g. offices, shops, schools, hotels.
C2 Low	Low-pollution atmosphere, rural.	Unheated buildings where condensation may occur, e.g. depots, sports halls. Atmospheres with low level of pollution. Mostly rural areas.
C3 Middle	Industrial and urban atmosphere with mild pollution by Sulphur oxide (IV); coastal areas with low salinity.	Production rooms with high humidity and some air pollution e.g. food-processing plants, laundries, breweries and dairies. Urban and industrial atmospheres, moderate sulfur dioxide pollution. Coastal areas with low salinity.

Plastic Coating by Dipping

PVC Pastes

Metal part coating by in-house PVC pastes – plastisol, with basic black, grey and white colours. Other colour shades on request.

The PVC layer thickness is governed, above all, by the metal type and strength, usually 400 µm – 2 mm, PVC hardness is given by the paste type, usually 50 – 70 ShA. Adhesive paint may be applied on the metal part surface on customer request for perfect adhesion of the PVC plastisol to the part. The recommended ambient temperature for PVC coated products is max. +80 °C.

Fluid Powder

Fluid powder is modified polyethylene-based, and is specially developed to provide long-term protection by surface layer to raw iron, galvanised steel, in both interior and exterior applications.

Gladiator – Mobile Dip Coating

Field application of corrosion-resistant coats by Gladiator mobile applicator

We offer a unique mobile technology for surface finishing of metals by thermoplastic powder paints. They provide corrosion-protective surface finish of metals, applied by flame spraying of the thermoplastic powder. The application is ideal for large structures which are either rigid or their dismantling would be difficult and need protection against exposure to adverse weather effects, salt water, air pollution and chemical corrosion.

Our highly resistant and perfectly adhesive coat is the ideal option for protection of exterior structures of soft steel, galvanised steel, aluminium, wood, concrete and other materials. The coat guarantees longevity and attractive appearance even in very demanding conditions.
